This Company is a start-up in the Internet ad space and like most start-ups, ROI on tools like ETL are mostly about the return and little about the investment, or in other words, time is easier to invest than currency.

That is the reason open-source projects are the natural platforms to begin with.

This course of action has pros and cons.

Some open-source projects are state of the art projects with little alternative, and sometimes even the industry standard.

On the other hand, you many find yourself investing hours over hours just to accomplish tasks that an enterprise platform would have given you in minutes.

Choosing talend as an ETL platform was a long but rewarding road.

Enterprise ETL platforms are so expensive it was real easy to make the decision and the downside was – There are simply not enough resources on the internet regarding talend.

Sure, the tool is easy and the documentation is simple. but once you encounter a problem a little more complex or a “best practice” dilemma, finding fellow talenders out there was a tough. That’s was my motivation to open this blog.
